I am a big believer in the power of the written word. Words have a lot of power to make or break a person. With so much negativity in today’s world, it’s important that we intentionally surround ourselves with positive thoughts and words.

Every morning on our A Bridge Between the Gap Facebook page and on Instagram, I leave my quotes of the day. Personally, I use these quotes on my daily planner page. I add them to my digital slideshow on our digital picture frame. I save it as my electronic’s wallpaper. This makes the positive quote a continuous part of my day.

Why You Need Inspiration

Every day we are bombarded by hostile voices. As daughters taking care of our aging parents we have the added voice of an often angry and bitter elderly person. When we complete our multigenerational sandwich with the angst that often accompanies childhood, we are left with a dampened spirit at best.

We must counteract these voices with words of hope and inspiration. It is my hope these quotes fill you with as much joy as they have brought me.

Start the day with gratitude.

One of the best things I have done for myself is being intentional about gratitude. Every evening I write down at least five things I am grateful for.

As part of my quiet time, I read through my gratitude journal from the night before. This reminds me that no matter how difficult today may get, I always have something I can be grateful for.

Live with integrity.

Use these inspirational quotes in your sandwiched home and enjoy the benefits of positive thinking. My “love language” is words of affirmation. I like to know I’ve done something right. For a long time, I made sure everything I did had an audience.

There are good and bad results of this behavior. Yes, I often receive the recognition I desire but it also creates a constant worry of what people think.

As I mature, I realize more and more that my audience doesn’t matter. While I still appreciate the words of affirmation, I don’t need them to be satisfied.

It’s hard not to get caught up in the overwhelming monotony of the daily life of a sandwiched homemaker. A lot of our days are spent just trying to survive until bedtime.

When you start looking for those small moments of joy, it makes life’s difficulties less trying and stepping stones to memorable moments.

Bravely ask for help.

Combat the negative voices that bombard us daily by making words of inspiration part of your daily routine. Use these inspirational quotes in your sandwiched home and enjoy the benefits of positive thinking. So many of us have the misconception that asking for help is a sign of weakness. We silently bear our burdens until we get so burnt out that we can’t go any further.

I still struggle with asking for help.

  • I don’t want to burden someone with my troubles.
  • Admitting I can’t do it all hurts my pride.
  • I’m afraid of what my friends and family will think of me
  • I feel like I’ve failed.

Asking for help is the brave thing to do. It does not mean you can’t do something. It is the recognition that you don’t have to.

Our society teaches us that we should be ashamed of growing old. We are constantly seeking ways to look and feel younger.

I love what the Bible says about growing older. It tells us that gray hair is a crown of glory (Proverbs 16:31) and a splendor (Proverbs 20:29)!
